Eucalyptus Essential Oil is obtained through a steam distillation process from
the leaves and the branches of the eucalyptus tree, also known as the fever
tree. Approximately 110 pounds of the plant material is required to produce
about two pounds of oil.
The active ingredient in eucalyptus oil is "eucalyptol"
and has strong antiseptic properties. Also an excellent antiviral, chest rub,
decongestant, disinfectant, and expectorant and helps reduce fever. Used as an
ointment for muscular aches and pains. Good for repelling insects, and for use
on insect bites or stings. Has a normalizing balancing effect.
Herbal Choice's Eucalyptus Essential Oil comes in a 0.42oz amber glass bottle to
help protect it from light. May be used with Herbal Choices carrier oils such as
Calendula and Jojoba as a massage oil to to stimulate mind and body.
Care: Do not use oils full strength. Always dilute them first. Avoid during
pregnancy. Keep essential oils out of reach of children.
The following are some suggested dilution ratios for certain applications:
- Baths - Add 8 drops essential oil to 1 cup water and add to the bath.
- Decongestant - place a few drops of the eucalyptus oil on a washcloth and deeply inhale the aroma.
- Body Lotion - Add 25 drops essential oil to 8 ounces of unscented
lotion.
- Carpet Freshener - Add 25 drops essential oil to 16 oz of water.
- Desinfectant Cleaning - Add 25 drops essential oil to 2 gallons of water to kill germs.
- Massage Oil - Add 25 drops essential oil to 1/2 oz jojoba oil or water to help sore muscles and joint pain and also makes a great chest rub to suppress coughs, help loosen phlegm and improve bronchial function.
- Room deodorizer - Add 25 drops essential oil to 16 oz of water to kill germs in the air and reduce airborne bacteria or may be placed in a diffuser.
